Dovetail Jig Workcenter Plan |
A
dovetail jig makes dovetails easy - but there are a few things about
the tool that make it difficult to use. The workcenter we designed here solves
the most common problems woodworkers have using dovetail jigs.

No bending over - getting the jig up to a more comfortable height
makes work much easier on the back. You'll also find that it's easier to guide
the router when you can actually see where the bit is cutting.
No clutter - the workcenter lets you store all your dovetail
tools and accessories in one place - which you can easily tuck under your workbench
at the end of the day (see photo left). We included plenty of storage space in
a large drawer located on the side of the box - just big enough to hold the jig,
templates, support bars, and knobs.
We also included some other great features - like a handy support base for docking
your router between cuts, and a support bar to help position your workpiece in
the jig. This woodworking plan appeared in Shopnotes magazine No. 93
